Sender Policy Framework, or SPF, is a validation system, which is intended to stop the so-called email spoofing where an email message can be sent from one email, but to seem as being sent from a different one, usually with the idea to scam the recipient someway. When SPF protection is activated for a domain, an exclusive record is made for it in the Domain Name System and all of the DNS servers around the world have it. The record contains all of the e-mail servers that are permitted to send valid messages from an email address within the domain. When a message is sent, the first DNS server it encounters verifies the SPF record and when the sending server is authorized, the message is forwarded to the targeted destination. If, however, the sending server is not included in the SPF record for the given domain, the email message won't be sent and it will be discarded. In case you employ this service, it'll prevent third parties from sending spam e-mails that seem to have been sent from you.

SPF Protection in Shared Web Hosting

When you host your domain names in a shared web hosting account with us and we manage the email addresses for them, you'll be able to activate SPF protection for all of them with several clicks in your Hepsia Control Panel. This service can be found in its own section where you'll be able to see which domains are already secured. For the ones that aren't, you can enable the SPF protection option and set up a lot of things in the process - the hostnames of the mail servers that are permitted to send messages from your e-mails, the IPv4 and IPv6 addresses of the servers, and even to create a rule that messages can be sent only when your domains use our MX records. The last option is the most secure one, and you can use it if we manage the email addresses for your domains and you're not using a different e-mail service provider. The newly created records will be activated within a day and nobody will be able to forge the FROM field in an email using your email addresses.

SPF Protection in Semi-dedicated Servers

When you have a semi-dedicated server account from our company, you can protect your emails by enabling the SPF protection service for every domain in your account with just a few mouse-clicks. This is done through the Emails section of our Hepsia Control Panel that is provided with the semi-dedicated accounts and even if you have no previous practical experience with these things, you won't have any problems to enable the security. Everything that you will need to do will be to choose a domain name from a drop-down menu and then type in the mail server hostname and IPv4 or IPv6 address. The moment the new record propagates, messages from your e-mail addresses will be sent worldwide only if they were sent from that specific server. When your e-mail addresses are managed by our company and not by a third-party supplier, you'll also be able to use an option for e-mail messages to be mailed only when the domain name includes our MX records and this is the most secure option. In case you have any kind of questions about thisfunction, you'll be able to get in touch with our support crew 24/7.
